Training Wheels is a picture routine app for children aged about three to seven. If something here doesn't answer your question, email contact.mydayapp@gmail.com and a real person will reply.
How do I change how much help my child gets?
Tap the Parent tab, then tap the routine you want to change. You'll see its current support level and a button to take some support away. Your child never sees a level — to them, it's simply how the app works today.
The app suggested fading, but I don't think they're ready
Tap "Not yet". The app will leave that routine alone for a week and ask again later. It only ever suggests — you decide.
My child is struggling again. Can I go back?
Yes, and you should. Open the routine in the Parent tab and choose Put the training wheels back on. A new school year, a bug going round the class, a house move — routines wobble, and going back a step is completely normal. Nothing is lost and nothing resets.
How do I use photos of our own things?
In the Parent tab, open a routine, tap Edit steps and pictures, then choose a step and select Take a photo of a real thing. A picture of your child's actual toothbrush or their actual backpack on its actual hook works better than any drawing. Photos are part of the full version.
What is the number on the parent dashboard?
It's how many times your child tapped "Not yet" this week, next to last week's figure. A falling number means they're needing you less. It's the only number in the app worth watching.
What happens to our routines if I delete the app?
They're deleted with it. Everything Training Wheels knows — routines, photos, points, progress — is stored only on your device, which is why we never ask you to sign in and never collect anything. The trade-off is that there's no backup on our end, because there's no "our end". If you're moving to a new phone, use an encrypted iPhone backup so the app's data comes across with everything else.
I bought the full version. How do I get it on another device?
Open the app, go to the unlock screen and tap Restore a previous purchase. Training Wheels also supports Family Sharing, so if two parents are in the same family group, only one of you needs to buy it.
Does it work on iPad?
Yes. Same app, same purchase, laid out for the larger screen.
Is it a subscription?
No. One payment, once, and it's yours. It seemed wrong to charge a family every month for an app whose whole purpose is to stop being needed.
What do you collect about my child?
Nothing at all. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party code. Link to privacy policy.
